NPP researcher calls on Interior Minister to resign

The National Patriotic Party’s research director Kwame Antwi has called on the Interior Minister Mark Woyongo to resign following comments he made which Mr Antwi describes as “irresponsible”.
In an interview with Ultimate Radio, Mark Woyongo indicated that violence from one political faction fueled the reprisal attacks and further suggested that such party security detail be licensed to operate legally.
“Violence begets violence. Azoka boys will not act violent if they are not provoked. The other side also brought in some people…the Invincible Forces, the Bolga Boys, so violence begets violence. What I mean is that if you are a peace lover and someone comes to attack you, definitely you have to protect yourself,” Mark Woyongo remarked.
Mr Antwi expressed worry about such statement and asked the minister to step down
Pressure group Movement for Change is also asking President John Mahama to sack the Minister nover comments he made which seem to have justified the violent clashes during the Talensi by-election.

Violent clashes left several political figures injured and property was also destroyed after some members of the two main political parties, NDC and NPP attacked each other.
