Barely one week after he arrived in Kumasi on a tour of some parts of the Ashanti Region, the President, Mr. John Dramani Mahama again arrived in Kumasi this afternoon to sympathize with victims of last weekend’s floods at the Airport Roundabout area which claimed one life.
The President who arrived by air landed at the Kumasi Airport about 1.45 P.M in the company of Minister of Information, Mr. Omane Boamah, and Mr. Stan Xoexe Dogbe, a Presidential staffer, was met on arrival by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Peter Anarfi Mensah and Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr. Kojo Bonsu and the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye.
An army of party faithful were also on hand to welcome him. Soon on arrival, the President went to the Airport Round About area which is a major flood prone area for an inspection.
From the Airport Round About area the President and his entourage went to Aboabo where a thick crowd of residents including some prominent Zongo chiefs and opinion leaders awaited him.
He first inspected the famous choked Aboabo drains which become major source of worry to residents anytime there is a heavy downpour because of over flooding. The President addressed the gathering and also donated a number of relief items to those affected by the recent floods.
The President ended his tour at Anloga Junction where a similar inspection of the drainage system was undertaken. He later indulged in a one on one encounter with some of the onlookers.
