Castro is not a fish to still be below water – Appietus

On record as the last engineer to have worked with hiplife artiste Castro before his disappearance on July 6, 2014, Appiah Dankwah popularly known as Appietus is uncertain about the existence of the artist.
He says Castro is not a fish to have stayed in the water for this long.
In a telephone interview on his deeds and memories of Castro on Hitz FM’s Entertainment This Week with Mzgee, the audio engineer could only be hopeful.
“Well, I can’t really say anything, Castro is obviously not a fish. If he is under the water, he couldn’t have stayed there that long or maybe he has amnesia. He’s lost all his memory and is somewhere. We don’t know so we are yet to know if he is alive or he is gone.”
Appietus described Castro’s absence as a big loss to the Ghanaian music community, indicating that Castro was a reigning artiste who before his disappearance had featured in all the big songs in the industry.
He emphasized that the vacancy produced by his disappearance is yet to be occupied.
The sound engineer who released a song by Castro earlier this year, disclosed that he released Castro’s song titled ‘Medowo’ even though the artiste was physically not present.
Even though the song is doing quite well on the market and has received enough airplay, Appietus said the song would have been better with Castro’s presence.
“Well it did well but because of his absence it dwindled. He had to be around to promote it. I can’t be doing the promo you know. You have to shoot a video to it and if the artiste is not around at some point, it could drown. So that’s what happened.”
Appietus suggests that dividends of Castro’s collaborations be given to his family in his absence.
“… I don’t know the deal they signed with him, but if they should play shows featuring Castro, some of the dividend should run to the family or something. It depends on what contract they signed. Sometimes I will practice a song for you, and vice versa. In that case there’s no money or percentage share in the end.”
