New building collapses at Bohyen killing one person instantly

A mason working on a building project belonging to a private developer at Bohyen near the “Best Chop Bar,” this afternoon died instantly when the building collapsed on him. The mason said to be in his 20’s was working on the project together with a colleague when the concrete roof of the building suddenly caved in trapping him as he tried to flee.
His colleague was however lucky, as he was able to flee the scene before the roof fell.
Sources say the building belongs to an elderly business woman, who collapsed on hearing of the sad incident. She was later rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Police personnel who rushed to the scene later picked the body and deposited it at the KATH mortuary for autopsy.
It is not clear whether the collapsed building had a permit covering it or not, as the family members of the property owner were not ready to comment on the matter.
The collapsed building incident is the second recorded in Kumasi in the past five days.
