Elderly in Kumasi "dumsor" demo

History was made in Kumasi when a group of elderly persons, some of them walking with the aid of walking sticks, put aside their infirmities to take to the streets in Kumasi to protest against the unending spate of black-outs.
Led by an 80-year-old woman, Madame Maame Amma Serwaa, the protestors, dressed in black and red clothing started the long procession from the Kumasi Cultural Centre and ended the procession at Abbey’s Park at Ashtown where they read their statement.
The elderly group hinted of their intended action about one week ago when Madam Serwaa met a section of the Kumasi press to break the news.
Speaking to the media, Madam Serwaa said that she would feel honoured to even lose her life while embarking on the demonstration for a cause close to people’s hearts.
