A 36-year-old man who posed as a military officer has been arrested and is being held by the Ashanti Regional Police command.
Fiifi Medici, the suspect, who claimed to be a medical student at a University in Belarus, Eastern Europe was wearing military camouflage attire with the rank of a Major when caught in a joint police/military swoop.
Mr Medici was arrested at about 1.15am on May 17 at Vienna City, a popular entertainment centre in Kumasi, following a tip-off. He was also found to be in possession of a counterfeit GH¢ 20 note.
His arrest follows a special joint police/military exercise to tackle police-military impersonation.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwaku Ampofo Duku, Deputy Regional Police Commander told the media at a news briefing in Kumasi on Monday that Medici said he got the uniform from his uncle, a retired soldier whose name he declined to mention.
