First-time paraglider forces crash landing at Kwahu

This year’s paragliding activities at Kwahu in the Eastern Region took off to a shaky start when a timid reveler forced a crash landing after stalling in his movement and thwarting the effort of his pilot.
It was Rajesh’s first attempt at paragliding and he was overwhelmed at the thought of being airlifted from the peak of the mountain hanging on a para-sail.
A squad of military personnel detailed to provide expert assistance in the event of an accident released Rajesh and his pilot from the ropes of the para-sail.
The incident attracted shouts from spectators who dreaded the prospect of the two having to fall off from the top of the cliff.
The military personnel took Rajesh through a counseling session after the ordeal and succeeded in allaying his fear of the activity.
After the 30-minute counseling, Rajesh, looking confident, went for an encore and this time succeeded drawing applause from the spectators.
Rajesh said: “It was my first time. I was nervous and scared. But I will go again and finish off,” which he did.
