Chris Brown off probation

Chris Brown is celebrating the fact that he is no longer on probation. The 25-year-old singer was sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community service following his attack on ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, in 2009.
And in court last Friday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge, James R. Brandlin, officially ended Brown’s punishment.
“IM OFF PROBATION!!!!!!!! Thank the Lord!!!!!! (sic),” the R&B crooner wrote to his over 14 million Facebook followers after the ruling.
Judge Brandlin closed Brown’s assault case entirely, noting the star completed his court-ordered community service and satisfied the terms of his probation.
According to USA Today, Brown and his lawyer, Mark Geragos, hugged each other in an elevator shortly after the hearing concluded.
Elated
Geragos is elated his client is now officially a free man.
“I couldn’t be more delighted,” the attorney gushed.
“He is in a spot right now and a place right now that I couldn’t be prouder of him.”
Geragos also noted Brown’s release from probation is ‘a monumental feat for him”.
The good news may be a surprise to many, as Brown was punished significantly in the recent past for numerous probation violations.
His probation was revoked in January after another shooting occurred at a concert he performed in San Jose, which left five people injured.
It was also revoked in 2013 after Brown was accused of hitting a man outside a Washington, D.C. hotel in October that year.
In 2014, he ended up serving time in prison after he was kicked out of rehab.
