Kessben College cements affiliation with KNUST

Kessben College has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The MoU formalizes the “mother-child relationship” between KNUST (the mother) and Kessben College (the child) and ensures that the academic programmes to be run by the College are closely monitored by KNUST to ensure that they meet acceptable international standards.
Kessben College and KNUST will collaborate on programmes including Bachelors degrees in Information and Communication Technology, Business Administration and English Studies.
KNUST will also support Kessben College to strengthen its systems and structures over the next four years.
The KNUST representatives were led by Professor William Otoo Ellis, the Vice Chancellor for KNUST.
The delegation from Kessben College was led by Mr Robert Donaldy, a member of the College’s Council, who stood in for the Chancellor, Stephen Boateng (Kwabena Kesse).
The ceremony was witnessed by faculty heads and senior lecturers of KNUST as well as officials from Kessben College.
Speaking at the event, Prof Ellis said: “We want to say congratulations to Kessben College for working with us up to this point. Our relationship takes two forms – institutional affiliation and programme affiliation.”
He said this would take the shape of moderation of various aspects of Kessben College, from admissions to exams.
Prof Ellis charged Kessben College with upholding the standards and integrity which KNUST has come to be associated with.
For his part, Kessben College’s Council Member Mr Robert Donaldy said he hoped the relationship would be a long-term one with mutual benefit to both institutions.
He added: ” We (Kessben College) will ensure that we meet all affiliation requirements to maintain the relationship.”
Kessben College expects to benefit immensely from the knowledge and experience of KNUST in the areas of teaching, research and community service as it seeks to become a centre of excellence for the dissemination of knowledge and skills to produce high quality human resources to meet the ever-changing socio-economic developmental needs of society.
Earlier this year, Kessben College opened registration for the 2015/2016 academic year, which begins in August.
