Wontumi is not a threat to our 1 million votes – Joseph Yamin

The Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yamin has dismissed a story posted on peacefmonline on November 21 saying that the NPP Chairman poses a risk to NDC’s one-million vote quest in the Ashanti Region.
The story which quotes Hon. Muntaka Mohammed MP for Asawase as saying that “Chairman Bernard Antwi Bosiako (Wontumi) poses a great challenge to the party recording the over a million votes they have pride themselves with in the region”.
Mr Yamin said that this was a misquote and shouldn’t be taken seriously.
“Yes he (Mr Mohammed) mentioned Wontumi’s name but never said it was going to be a difficult task. That was during the regional conference but he’s been misquoted really. The fact that somebody’s name is mentioned doesn’t mean he is a feared force”.
He added that once he was named by NPP regional organiser as a threat to their capturing power but that doesn’t suggest that his presence will decline their votes.
“Don’t jubilate because Muntaka mentioned Wontumi’s name, if you do, then you are making a big mistake. Because we are not considering Wontumi, we are considering how best we can strategise and move ahead,” said Mr Yamin.
He added that the government will ensure that there is peace, and that there is no incident of double voting and that the President will retain power.
