Gov't pledges fire tenders for new assemblies

The Minister for Interior, Mr Mark Owen Woyongo, has said government will soon commence the distribution of 80 newly acquired fire tenders and repair broken ones across the country in a bid to improve the efficiency of the Ghana Fire Services especially at the district level.
Mr Woyongo said this on the floor of Parliament yesterday, when he appeared before the House to respond to some questions posed by the MP for Yagaba/Kubori, Mr Mustapha Ussif, and MP for Wa East, Mr Ameen Salifu.

The Interior Minister appealed to all District Chief Executives and Members of Parliament to identify suitable locations and provide infrastructure to enable the Ghana Police Service and Ghana Fire Service to set up their respective stations in the newly created districts.
Mr Woyongo appealed to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to urgently release funds for the construction of the administration blocks for the newly created assemblies to enable the setting up of the police and fire stations.
