Avram Grant frontrunner for Black Stars job

Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant is set to become the new coach of Ghana according to the Ghana Football Association subject to the agreement of financial terms.
The announcement brings to an end a two-month search that saw the withdrawal of favourite Patrick Kluivert and the denial of German Bernd Schuster that he had even applied for the job.
Ghana Football Association (GFA) boss Kwesi Nyantakyi made the announcement on Friday.
“The executive considered a report of the committee that was put up by the three-member committee to appoint the new coach for Ghana,” FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi said.
“Our preference is Avram Grant and Jimenez is our second choice. We have not reached agreement with him yet but it is left with some small details which will be sorted out soon.”
Grant’s appointment will be completed after a financial agreement is reached with the man who led Chelsea to the finals of the Champions League in 2008 and is now a technical director in Thailand.
The GFA also confirmed that if an agreement proved difficult, it would fall on Juan Ignacio Jimenez to take over the job.
Grant will face a hard task as he looks to rebuild a national team recovering from an embarrassing World Cup and will have his first hurdle as the AFCON in Morocco in January.
