Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Samuel Sarpong, has assured the public that the Sofoline-Sunyani Road will be completed by December to ease the congestion on the road.
He indicated that the work is seriously going well on the road and that it was 96 per cent complete. Dr Sarpong was giving the overview of the region during the ‘Ghana for the People forum’ in Kumasi.
Road works between Bekwai Roundabout and Abuakwa were also progressing, the Minister added.
The Sofoline Interchange and the Abuakwa Road is part of an ongoing contract being undertaken by the government. The road is 11km from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Roundabout to Abuakwa.
It is being widened into a six-lane dual carriageway with associated drainage and relocation works.
The Minister said the Sofoline Interchange is the government’s urgent priority and that government will do its best to get it completed this December.
