The board chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Tony Oteng Gyasi, has resigned from his position.
Sources say Mr Gyasi, who is also the MD of Tropical Cables and Conductors Limited, tendered his resignation letter this week, but the President is yet to respond to his letter.
Mr Gyasi allegedly cited health reasons as the cause for his resignation. However, it is believed that the current power crisis may be the main reason for his departure.
ECG is due to publish a load-shedding timetable this week. More acute power outages are expected as gas supply from Nigeria has been suspended due to a strike by workers in the gas sector.
