Failure to accept rural posting could result in punishment – NSS
The National Service Secretariat (NSS) has said that young people who refuse to take up their posting to rural communities will be punished and could be barred from taking up employment.
Speaking to Kessben TV, the NSS’s Ashanti regional director Mr Kwesi Quianoo added: “If anybody employs you, the owner of the company can be dragged to court, since national service is a requirement.”
Mr Quianoo said over 13,000 young people had been allocated for the Ashanti region, with the education sector taking the greater chunk of the personnel.
He added that voluntary service has not been cancelled, but postings are to rural areas or smaller communities.
