Dealers in frozen fish in Kumasi have sounded an alarm that their businesses are collapsing as a result of the frequent power outages.
The sellers in the Asafo area, where most of the Kumasi cold stores are located, claimed that under the current conditions, coupled with the fall of the cedi, they barely make any profit from their business.
Speaking in separate interviews on Kessben TV, the dealers said that their predicament has been communicated to the appropriate authorities, yet the situation appears to be getting worse.
The fish dealers complained that the power outage coincides with the sales times, which has the effect of putting prospective customers off buying.
The frequent power outages also reduce the freshness of the fish and could result in food poisoning if the fish are stored above the optimum temperature.
