Walahi, Bilahi Talahi! I will sue Sports Crusader – GHALCA's Alhaji Raji says
GHALCA chairman Alhaji Aliu Raji has sworn threatened to drag Sports Crusader to court following a publication on their website that Hearts of Oak has pulled out of the Top 4 competition, which the riled GHALCA chairman says is untrue and an unfortunate fabrication.
As with the last two seasons, this season’s Top 4 has been plagued by a plethora of funding issues leading to Obuasi AshantiGold threatening to pull out, while Asante Kotoko were also engaged in a back-and-forth tug-of-war with GHALCA over the timing and structure of the competition. GHALCA has braved the situation by coming to a consensus with the two clubs and paving the way for the competition to kick-start this weekend.
The calm waters got troubled again on Friday morning when chairman Raji and John Ansah, the events coordinator, chanced upon the Hearts withdrawal publication leading to a decision to resort to the law courts. ”I’m gobsmacked by that publication,” Raji told Kessben FM.
”These are the kind of publications which derailed our arrangements to get sponsors for the competition. We will not be worried if the report is true but when there is not even a scintilla of truth in that publication, it can be interpreted as a deliberate attempt to create problems for us and the competition.”
Alhaji Raji then went on to say how seriously they are taking the story; ”Walahi, bilahi talahi, they will meet us in court to explain how they came by that irresponsible story.”
Alhaji Raji went on to explain that Hearts, like the other participating clubs, have received their Ghc15,000 booty as participation fees. ”Hearts have taken their appearance and fee and are feverishly preparing to face Heart of Lions on Saturday.”
Meanwhile the other two combatants, Asante Kotoko and Obuasi Ashantigold, square off at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
