Cwesi Oteng makes history at Africa Gospel Music Awards 2014
Ghana’s Cwesi Oteng bagged the Artiste of the Year (Male) and topped it with West African Artiste of the Year at this year’s Africa Gospel Music Awards (AGMA) held at Fairfields Halls in Croydon, London.
Cwesi now becomes the first artiste to win the West African Artiste of the Year award for two consecutive years. He had received the first in 2013, a year after earning Video of the Year for his ‘God Dey Bless Me’.
At this year’s Awards, the leading contemporary singer showered heartfelt gratitude on fans, media, colleagues, friends and BBnZ Live management for their consistent support which led to the four-time honour at the AGMA.
“Everyone on my team is excited! I feel so humbled by the support for our music and ministry. It shows that our music impacts the listener positively. That gives us so much joy and energy to keep going. The Awards are added recognition for our hard work and passion for excellence. Most importantly, I return glory to God for the privilege to serve,” Cwesi said.
He revealed that his third album would be due for release in a couple of months. Cwesi is expected to embark on a tour of Africa, Europe and America after the album release.
Meanwhile, Nigeria was not left out of the 5th AGMA; Eben’s ‘Justified’ earned Album of the Year and Sinach picked up Song of the Year for her ‘I Know Who I am’. Nikki Laoye, Sammy Okposo and radio presenter, Sabina were also awarded.
