“I was expecting a litre of petrol to be 10 cedis by now, stop lamenting & fix the economy” – MP for Odotobri Hon. Anthony Mmieh challenges NDC

Speaking on Kessben FM’s Maakye with Wofa KOfi Appiah, the Member of Parliament for Odotobri, Hon. Anthony Mmieh, called out the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government over the state of Ghana’s economy.
According to Hon. Mmieh, under the NDC’s watch, Ghanaians are still facing economic hardships that contradict the promises made before the 2024 elections.
“I was expecting the litre of petrol to be 10 cedis by now under this government. After all the criticisms and promises they made, we should not be where we are today.” he said.
Hon. Mmieh’s message was not just about fuel prices, it was a broader call to accountability. He criticized the NDC for continuing to blame past administrations for the current state of the economy. “Power has been given to you. Ghanaians have entrusted you with leadership. Stop lamenting and fix the economy,” he said firmly.
Fuel prices remain one of the most visible indicators of economic performance for the average Ghanaian. Every increase affects food prices, transportation fares, and the overall cost of living. While global factors such as crude oil prices and exchange rates play a role, many believe more can be done domestically to cushion the impact.
Hon. Mmieh’s expectation of a 10-cedi per litre petrol price under the NDC isn’t simply a political jab; it reflects the hopes many Ghanaians had when the NDC came into power, that things would get better, faster. His comments suggest that, in his view, those hopes are not being met.
