Kumasi chief butcher appeals to gov’t to support youth

The chief butcher at Kumasi Abattoir has appealed to government to channel a portion of the Youth Enterprise Support fund (YES) to support butchers in the Ashanti Region.
Alhaji Musah Bawa Tanko said over 5,000 youth are butchers currently working at Mayanka and they would greatly benefit should government extend this support to them.
“We purchase over 60-70 percent of the cows from Burkina Faso, and it’s very expensive because it’s often dictated by the existing rate of the CFA,” he said.
Alhaji Tanko was also hopeful that the deadly Ebola disease won’t affect their business.
