CPP backs nationwide workers demo

The Convention Peoples’ Party says the TUC has shown courage and has therefore thrown in its support for the nationwide demonstration today.
The party stated “The CPP salutes the TUC and our workers nationwide for showing courage and leadership in these challenging times”.
The one-day demonstration against what Organised Labour is calling harsh economic conditions in the country, will see shops and businesses closed throughout the day. Unionised transport operators have also been asked to park their vehicles and join the demonstration.
“The CPP’s position on the economy tallies with that of the Trades Union Congress”, the statement signed by its Director for Comunications Nii Akonfrah said.
The CPP becomes the first political party to officially declare support for the demonstration. The party has one representative in Parliament.
