Stick to golf, Van Persie tells Van Hooijdink

Dutch skipper Robin van Persie has blasted back at Pierre van Hooijdonk for his World Cup sniping, telling the former Celtic star to “stick to playing golf”.
Van Hooijdonk, who won 46 caps for Holland, ripped into the Manchester United striker in a newspaper column before Saturday’s clash with Brazil.
He claimed van Persie should be dropped for a lack of commitment but the striker gave the perfect response by netting in a 3-0 win as Louis van Gaal’s side claimed bronze medals.
That took his tally for the tournament to four goals and van Persie rounded on his former Feyenoord
team-mate yesterday.
He said: “Van Hooijdonk needs to stop. He should stick to playing golf or do something else.
“Everybody is proud of the team but creates panic without arguments.
“I gave everything and I don’t understand why van Hooijdonk does this and gets a platform like this.
“I can take criticism but only when it’s fair. It’s not coming from a good heart. Maybe he’s angry with me, you should ask him.”
Van Hooijdonk then responded by saying: “This shows that he has bad
feelings about me, instead of other way around.
“It’s my job to be critical on the things I see.”
