Cost of groceries in Ghana increased from 5.4% to 11%

Ghanaians have reacted massively as the prices of foodstuffs have increased.

Statistician, Asuom Afram has said, prices of foodstuffs in Ghana have become very expensive, and noted that absolutely nothing is cheap currently.

According to him, the Cost of food in Ghana has increased from 5.4 percent in May to 11 percent in November 2021.

He mentioned that the inflation rate for food goes high every year in Ghana but the increase in food prices for 2021 is higher than the year 2020.

He explained to Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on Maakye that, increasing prices of foodstuffs in the year 2020 resulted from the COVID-19 outbreak which affected the availability of farm inputs and other farm services.

He added that the prices of food are increased every year.
