Nationwide agriculture audit to take off soon
The agriculture sector will soon undertake a nationwide audit aimed at providing complete and reliable data for effective decision-making on policies.
The exercise will be conducted by the Ghana Statistical Service together with the Food and Agriculture Ministry, with funding from the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
The Ashanti Regional Statistician, Mr Emmanuel George Osei, said in a statement that the audit would involve the collection, processing, publishing and dissemination of information on the structure of agricultural sector and the state of development in rural areas.
The data would be taken directly from households and other information from the communities includes:
- geography
- availability of basic facilities
- socio-economic conditions
- transport infrastructure
- community services
- potential for development, and
- constraints.
In preparation towards this a “users and producers dialogue” will be held in Kumasi on Monday, June 23.
