Mobile app to tackle power cuts
A mobile app developed by local technology start-up Kode Fusion GH will help Ghanaians be better equipped to deal with power cuts.
The app is named “Dumsor” after the local term for power outage. It works on mobile phones with android operating systems, converting the in-built camera flash into a flashlight.
The app, was recently launched and is available on Google Playstore.
Future updates of Dumsor will include a feature to notify users of an imminent power outage in their area, based on the Electricity Company of Ghana’s load shedding schedule. There will also be a feature that will turn on the flashlight automatically when power goes off based on a set time.
