FA boss confirms: I once paid GH₵10,000 for "spiritual help" on Black Stars
Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi has revealed the Black Stars budget for the 2014 FIFA World Cup did not include any “spiritual expenses”. He however confirmed that he did at one time pay Gh₵10,000.00 for a spiritualist from his own pocket.
Although the Ghana FA has continuously denied budgeting for unseen help from various religious leaders, the Ghana FA boss has revealed paying a spiritual leader to aid the Black Stars in one of their past matches.
“God doesn’t charge anybody. People charge money, people perform sacrifice. It cuts across the various religions be it traditional, Christian or Islamic,” he said.
“We at the GFA don’t make provisions for “juju”. If you can’t get a receipt for any business that you have done for the GFA, we will not approve that. So in the budget, there is nothing like money for “juju”.
The Wa All Stars owner, however, acknowledged that he’s issued money on for spiritual services.
“I used my money to take care of some of these things and I remember paying Gh₵10,000.00 to a spiritual man to aid the Black Stars some time ago.The GFA capo made these revelations on Hot Issue, a program hosted by ace journalist Kwesi Pratt on TV3.”
Many pundits have questioned the input of spiritual practices in football and Kwesi Nyantakyi’s revelation is set to heat up the debate.
