We Can’t Have Economic Independence If The 1884 Berlin Conference Bond That Divided Africa Is Not Broken -Dr. Kwaku Mensah Mawutor

Senior Lecturer, UPSA, Dr. Kwaku Mensah Mawutor said that, the foundation of leadership is very important and in Africa the foundation is shaking in the sense that the economic state of leadership is all about ”bread and butter”.

He stated emphatically that in the year 1884 Berlin conference, where some few Europeans countries met and divided Africa amongst themselves, we can’t today have economic independence if the bond is not broken.

According to him, history indicates that Britain, France and Belgium observed and realized Africa countries are enriched with natural resources hence looked for a way to capitalize the natural resources to develop their country therefore they sent mercenaries to trade with Africans.

History indicates that, Britain and France were fighting over Africa for ownership and later shared Africa amongst themselves. DR. Mawutor said Africans are still under the influence of the Berlin conference and the leaders of Africa must break this conference and until then we can never have our freedom in the economy.
