MUSIGA announces new membership fees

The national executive council of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has approved new fees for members of the union to take effect from January 15.
At the last meeting held by the council, the second highest decision- making body of the union after congress, it was agreed that new rates should be introduced for MUSIGA’s members.
MUSIGA president Bice Osei Kuffour said that as MUSIGA is an organisation that caters for the welfare of its members, it needed to charge realistic fees to enable it to provide meaningful services to members.
He added that three new categories of membership have also been introduced by the union in addition to the already existing Standard Membership category. One of the new categories is Associate Member for students interested in joining the union.
“These are students of institutions like School of Performing Arts, National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), University of Education at Winneba and similar tertiary institutions offering music courses,” the MUSIGA president said.

The final new category is the MUSIGA Partner for individuals or organisations who do not work directly in the music industry but are interested in associating with the Union.
The new categories will be officially unveiled at the annual retreat for the union’s leadership in Koforidua on Thursday, January 15.
