Political parties call for emergency meeting to discuss June voter registration
The General Secretaries of various political parties in the country have demanded an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting ahead of the Electoral Commission (EC) voter registration next month.
The political parties said they needed to discuss issues and terms before the exercise commences.
The registration is expected to start on Friday, June 20th, 2014 to Sunday June 29th, 2014. It is intended to register those who have attained the voting age of 18 years since the last registration in 2012, and those who were above 18 years but who could not register as voters during the last registration exercise.
IPAC is made up of representatives of all registered political parties and the EC.
Although the EC is yet to respond to the request by the political parties, the CPP General Secretary Ivor Greenstreet said he is hopeful the Commission will heed their call.
