Energy minister battles alleged forged signature

The Minister for Energy and Petroleum, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, has maintained that his signature was forged to secure an oil block for Miura Petroleum and Gondwana Oil Corporation.
The culprit is allegedly one Charles Andoh a 35-year old, a former staff member of Miura Petroleum Limited, who is currently on the run after being granted bail.
According to the Minister, Charles Andoh had admitted to the forgery, but Miura Petroleum has denied having employed anyone by the name of Charles Andoh.
The Energy Minister revealed that his attention was drawn to the forged document when he realised that although the Ministry started dealing with Miura Petroleum in December 2013, the company had come up with documents which were dated 0ctober 2013.
The inconsistencies led to the matter being investigated by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).
Meanwhile, an Accra Circuit Court has begun hearing the case in the accused’s absence.
The court has ordered his surety, Tonya Abela, and another to produce the accused before May 28.
