Opposition mourns PV Obeng
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is mourning Paul Victor ‘PV’ Obeng, the veteran politician who was the chairman of the National Development Planning Commission and senior presidential advisor.
PV Obeng reportedly collapsed at the Agape Filling Station along Spintex Road in Accra on Saturday, May 17, and died from what is suspected to be either an asthma attack or a heart attack.
Speaking on a morning radio show, Hon Osei-Kyei Mensah Bonsu described the death of the politician PV Obeng as a big blow to the NPP party and Ghana as a whole.
“I am shocked, because the last time I met him, he had no taint of illness. Besides he drove his own car indicating that he did not feel unwell,” Mr Bonsu said.
“Paul Victor Obeng was a very honest and affable man who always sought other people’s opinions and promoted participation. Ghana has lost an astute personality.”
Former Ghanaian ambassador to America and currently COCOBOD chairman, Mr Daniel Ohene Agyekum described PV Obeng’s death as a “tragedy” and a “blow to the face”.
Speaking on Kessben FM morning show “Maakye”, Mr Agyekum said: “Paul Victor Obeng was a very noble and decent man – why did he have to die?”
