Supreme court to give lawyers timelines for filing addresses

Indications are clear that the Supreme Court will today give timelines to the parties involved in the ongoing election petition hearing, to file their addresses.

This is determinant on the petitioners completing their cross examination on Wednesday.

Counsel for petitioners, lawyer Philip Addison, is likely to finish cross examining Dr Kwadjo Afari Djan, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

At yesterdays hearing, counsel for the Electoral Commission, James Quarshie Idun, indicated to the court that he did not intend re-examining his client.

All things being equal, the implications are that the panel of justices, after Philip Addison rounds up, will then have to give the parties involved, time to file their written addresses.

There are strong signals that the parties will be given two weeks to do that.

This will then be followed by the final verdict expected to be delivered by the nine-member panel of justices within 15 days after the addresses have been file.
