Election Petition: Hearing resumes today

The Supreme Court will on Wednesday continue hearing on the application filed by petitioners in the election petition case requesting the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan to make available the coalition sheets of 13 constituencies in the 2012 elections.

According to the petitioners, some irregularities were recorded in those collation centers hence the need for the EC to provide it.

Speaking to Citi News one of the spokespersons for the petitioners, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah said: “this application is to make a formal request for materials that the electoral commissioner Dr. Afari Gyan has promised to give but apparently is not doing so.”

He explained that “the coalition sheet is different from the pink sheet because a coalition sheet takes on the pink sheet and list every single pink sheet that was brought to the coalition center which is the constituency coalition center.”

He revealed that “where there are transposition errors or deliberate errors of interposition in otherwise as the electoral commissioner himself has said, it’s very likely to show up on the coalition sheet.”
