I have my eyes on the Black Satellites-Kwesi Appiah
Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah says that he will be looking closely at the Black Satellites for outstanding players as they participate in the World Youth Championships in Turkey.
His former boss Milovan Rajevac chose players from the victorious Black Satellites team of 2009 for the Black Stars in the 2010 African Nations Cup and World Cup and Appiah says he will follow suit in order to find solutions to emergency situations.
“ I believe that the Under 20s are doing well now and it is important that we go over there and see if I can bring in a few players.
I have always maintained that we need to have replacements so that in any eventuality so that they can help the nation.”
Appiah also highlighted the need to give young players exposure for them to learn and understand the dynamics of the Black Stars before they can be fully integrated at the right time.
“Sometimes, you can give call-ups to young players so that they will have some exposure to how things are done in the Black Stars team. This will help them in future especially when they must become Black Stars players. Things will be easier for them at that time.”
Appiah will be in Turkey to watch the Black Satellites take on France on Friday in the team’s opening match in Group A at the Ali Sami Yen Arena in Istanbul.
