Cantonment brutality: Investigate conduct of police personnel – IGP

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has directed that a full scale investigation be conducted into an operation carried out by the Police on Friday 31st May 2013 which led to the arrest of scores of suspected land guards.

The suspects were said to be brutalizing innocent artisans on a piece of land off the switch back road in Cantonment Accra.

A video footage showing the actions of some Police officials brutalizing some suspected land guards is reported to have come to the attention of the police administration.

Citifmonline.com source indicate that the IGP has directed the Police Investigation and Professional Standard Bureau to conduct a full scale investigation into the operation with the view of establishing the probability of a breach of police regulation.
