NDC Demo Hits Tsatsu

A group based in Sunyani, the Brong Ahafo regional capital, which claims to be part of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed to hit the streets to demonstrate against Tsatsu Tsikata, counsel for the NDC.
According to the agitated members of the group, Tsatsu Tsikata was performing abysmally for the ruling political party at the Supreme Court in a case in which Nana Akufo-Addo, the 2012 presidential candidate and some New Patriotic Party (NPP) gurus, are challenging the presidential results.
They want the hierarchy of the party to immediately change Tsatsu, if the law permits, for a competent lawyer to defend the NDC in court to help boost the party’s chance of winning the case.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of NDC Branch Zongo Caucus, Sunyani, Saed Idin told Nhyira FM that Tsatsu repeated several questions during the cross-examination of Dr. Bawumia.
He said Tsatsu’s awful performance paved the way for NPP members in the area to make mockery of supporters of the ruling party.
Idin was also not happy with alleged comments by Tsatsu in court that over-voting occurred at some polling stations in the Ashanti region, a stronghold of the opposition party of NPP.
Idin said President John Dramani Mahama won the 2012 polls legitimately so Tsatsu should not try to create the impression that some irregularities occurred during the polls.
He charged the leadership of the NDC to appeal to Tsatsu to dispute assertions by the NPP that massive irregularities characterized the polls.
Idin said that Tsatsu’s comments could lead to the Supreme Court to declare NPP as winners in the case, saying “he was making the petitioners’ case of over-voting convincing in court.”
Meanwhile, the National Organizer of the NDC, Yaw Boateng Gyan, flatly disowned Idin and his group, stating that “we don’t have their group’s name in our records.”
He described Idin and his group as NPP members who were bent on creating confusion in the ruling party, stating that “their ploy will fail.”
Mr. Boateng-Gyan tasked the public not to take him and his group seriously, admonishing the media to be circumspect about such personalities.
He stated that Tsatsu was doing a marvelous job which would eventually help the respondents to win the case, rubbishing claims that Tsatsu was in court to repeat questions.
Nana Ato Dadzie, a member of the legal team of the respondents in the case, raised doubts as to whether the group would demonstrate against Tsatsu, adding that even if they hit the streets, they would be doing so in preparation for the respondents’ victory at the Supreme Court.
