Dr. Bawumia Has Not Recovered From Accident; He Is Not Himself – Kojo Adu Asare

The former National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for the Adentan Constituency, Kojo Adu Asare has said he is worried that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s political career will soon come to an end with the kind of performance he exhibited during the cross-examination by Tony Lithur, lead counsel for the first respondent, President John Mahama in the election petition case.
According to him, the New Patriotic Party is gradually leading Dr. Bawumia to a ditch where his political ambition cannot be resuscitated.
“I can see they (the NPP) are leading Bawumia into the ditch. I am very worried for him (Dr. Bawumia) because his political career is itching closer to a station. Why would they (the NPP) do that to this young man? He came out to say the NPP have form a committee and he is the chair the committee and again a star witness?’ he quizzed.
Speaking on Accra-based Adom FM, Kojo Adu Asare alleged that, “it’s either Dr. Bawumia has not recovered very well from is near fatal accident and has been asked to represent the NPP in court, because one could see that he is displaying some character and he is not himself.
“…In as much as he is doing everything to remain in place, he is beginning to behave some way. Why would they push him (Dr. Bawumia) to the fore when both the party chairman and Nana Addo are sitting down for Bawumia to lead them just after an accident? His mind might not be stable by now,” he said.
Tony Lithur, lead counsel for the first respondent, President John Mahama, in the election petition accused chief witness for the petitioners, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for deliberately repeating polling stations to shore up figures to back his claims and the claim by the two other petitioners that the second respondent, which is the Electoral Commissioner erred in declaring John Mahama winner of the 2012 presidential election.
Though the former MP does not want to digest the on-going court ruling, he believes the NPP lacks leadership in court in terms of their lawyer’s demeanor.
