Ghana’s Black Satellites have qualified for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup after beating hosts Algeria 2-0 on Friday at the ongoing African Youth Championship.
First half strikes from Seidu Salifu and Ebenezer Assifuah powered the Satellites to their second win at the tournament and also a place at the global championship in Turkey later in the year.
Salifu scored first after five minutes before Assifuah added the second on the half-hour mark to wrap up victory.
In the other Group A match, Egypt beat Benin by a lone goal to complete a hat-trick of wins at the championship.
Egypt finished on nine points, three richer than Ghana whilst Algeria and Benin finished in that order with a point each. Only the semi finalists from each group will make to the World Cup. Egypt and Ghana have qualified to the semis from Group A.
