Government’s intolerance has led to energy crisis – Nana Konadu

Former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has attributed government’s intolerance to criticisms, as the cause of the current energy crisis Ghanaians are faced with.

Mrs. Rawlings, in an interview with Citi News, stated that government would have been able to resolve the problem if it had listened to constructive criticisms from well-meaning Ghanaians in the sector.

“Unfortunately, I live in a place where the lights go off like four, five times in a week. We have reached an era in our developmental programme as a nation that when one wants to criticize something or you want to make a critique of an issue that is actually creating a problem for the society, you have people coming out to actually banter you until you stop talking.”

Mrs. Rawlings noted, from her current base in the Central African Republic, that resolving the current crisis required a collective approach.

“We don’t need criticisms in our country? Then nobody is going to do the right thing. A country moves forward when there is good and positive criticism to those who are leading us.”

She opined that the country was currently being led astray and called for general and constructive criticism amongst the leaders and citizens.
