NPP amends petition, irregularities occured in 12,000 centres

The petitioners challenging the results of the December 2012 elections at the Supreme Court, have amended their petition, on the grounds that they have uncovered more evidence of irregularities.
The petitioners are 2012 NPP presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo, his running mate Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, and NPP Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey. The petitioners earlier claimed that irregularities occurred at some 4,709 polling stations.
Lead Counsel for the petitioners Philip Addision on Thursday told the court that they have come across more evidence of malpractices and irregularities at 11,916 polling stations.
The petitioners also claim voting took place at some 28 polling stations that were not properly designated.
He said these were found after the NPP completed its analysis of the available data and the pink sheets.
Meanwhile, lead Counsel for the respondents, Nana Ato Dadzie has described the latest development plots by the petitioners to seek information that is non-existent.
Hearing has been adjourned to February 5, 2013.
