The Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight newspaper, Ken Kuranchie has accused the NDC of recruiting foreigners to vote during the just ended elections.
Speaking on Citi fm’s news analysis program The Big Issue at the weekend, Mr. Kuranchie stated that he has video footage to prove his claim.
According to Mr. Kuranchie the evidence available to him is only a small portion of the what the NPP intends to present in court.
“I can prove to you that the NDC actively went out there and recruited foreigners to vote in our referendum; I can give you a video tape of the NDC actively recruiting foreigners. I will give you a video, at least one instance where a Burkinabe with a Burkinabe national ID recruited to come and take a Ghanaian voter ID.”
“I am saying that an NDC official on video saying that they [NDC] brought this people to come and vote in our election,” he noted.
Meanwhile, his co-panelist and NDC MP for Wa Central, Abdul Rashid Pelpuo has denied the allegations saying Mr. Kuranchie got it wrong in labeling the said people as non-Ghanaians.
“The thing about it is that some people came back from Kumasi and run to Wa to come and register, the reason is that the moment they see them in their smock, they decided that they were foreigners. They drove them away, because they were declared as foreigners in Kumasi.”
