NPP geared for crunch meeting on election results

The National Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will today take a decision on whether or not to concede defeat after the decision by the Electoral Commission (EC) on the results of the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The NPP has described as flawed the results of the elections and alleged, at a press briefing on Sunday, that the President, John Mahama had conspired with election officers to “falsify election results.”

Press Secretary to flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Herbert Krappah in an interview with Citi News the next line of action to be towed by the party will be decided at the meeting.

“Based on the evidence we are gathering, it is very clear to us that something is not right. A lot of water has gone under the bridge and we are determined that the vote of the people be counted and whoever they cast it for, it should be counted for them,” he stated.

He also indicated that the evidence of electoral fraud was too compelling for the NPP to let go.

“Nana Akufo-Addo’s position is quite clear. He hates to be seen as a pro democracy leader and a fighter of the country but there are serious issues that the NPP has with the outcome of our presidential and parliamentary elections from last Friday,” he added.

“The evidence that we are gathering is quite compelling and it will be difficult for Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP to keep quiet on the matter,” he added.

Meanwhile hundreds of supporters on Monday evening gathered at the Nima residence of the NPP presidential candidate demanding he does not accept the results of the election.

“When you put on your NPP attire, put a red band around your head. If you don’t have one, wear red. Everyone should be ready because we are going to sleep at the Electoral Commission till Afari Gyan declares the election properly,” one agitated supporter added.
