Mahama is a 'winnable' candidate – Rawlings

Ghana’s former President, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, has once again expressed confidence in President John Mahama describing him as a ‘winnable‘ candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming Presidential elections.

In an interview with Metro TV in Accra on Friday, the former President said: “To be honest with you if Prof Mills had chosen John Mahama in 2004, history would have been different.”

Mr. Rawlings also refuted media reports which sought to paint the picture that he had refused to endorse President Mahama.

President Rawlings also indicated the the nation’s traditional leaders had a key role to play in ensuring a peaceful election process.

He charged party supporters to work assiduously to ensure a win for the National Democratic Congress.
