Don’t exchange children’s future with gifts – Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2012 NPP Vice-Presidential candidate, has appealed to the people of Ghana to remain resolute in their determination to secure a better future for their children and avoid being swayed by the numerous gifts being doled out by the ruling party for vote buying purposes.
Dr. Bawumia said this when he paid a call on the acting Navro Pio, Wekem Arthur Balinia Adda at his palace in Navrongo as part of a tour of the Navrongo Central constituency on Saturday.
The NPP Vice-Presidential candidate, who thanked Navro Pio Adda for the warm welcome accorded him and his team said “Navro pio and elders, we are here to ask for your blessings as we approach December 7th which is barely two weeks away when we will decide the destiny of this country. Hopefully, the people of Ghana would vote for a party that would provide Free Secondary School education for all of our children. This would be of great benefit to all of our families. Every family in Navrongo and countrywide would be beneficiaries of this policy.
It is something I hope we should hold dearly. Let us not exchange the future of our children with gifts of today that the NDC is sharing in attempt to change our minds. Those gifts would be consumed but the education of our children would last forever and they would pass the benefits from generation to generation.”
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who spent Saturday campaigning also in the Zebilla constituency, informed Navro Pio Adda, that the NPP had great plans for the people of Navrongo, the Upper East Region and the nation at large and asked the people of Navrongo to massively endorse Nana Akufo-Addo and the sitting Member of Parliament, Joseph Kofi Adda come December 7th.
The NPP Vice-Presidential candidate stated that aside providing free secondary school education, the NPP, in line with its decision to prioritize education once elected, had also decided to turn three (3) of the campuses of the University of Development Studies (UDS) into fully fledged and equipped public universities. He informed the Navro Pio that these campuses would include the Navrongo Campus of the University and said that the NPP would invest the necessary resources to build on the current facilities at the campus to ensure that the people of the Upper East region have a befitting public university.
Dr. Bawumia also used the opportunity to pay glowing tribute to the memory of the late former Vice-President of the Republic, Alhaji Aliu Mahama who was close friends with Navro Pio Adda. He noted that H.E. Aliu Mahama was a good man who cherished the ch9ieftancy institution and did everything possible to support and strengthen the institution and pledged that when elected, he would continue in that stead.
The acting Navro Pio, Wekem Arthur Balinia Adda on his part thanked Dr. Bawumia for the respect he had shown him and for coming to his palace to inform him of the plans of the NPP. He assured Dr. Bawumia and the NPP of his blessings and wished the NPP success in the December polls.
