Player exodus: Don’t really blame the players because they are not well paid in Ghana – Hon Elvis Afriyie Ankrah

Former Ghana sports minister, Hon Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has bemoaned about the meagre wage of Ghanaian footballers plying their trade in Ghana.

The former sports minister says local players cannot really be blamed for the player exodus in Ghana football.

Speaking on Kessben TV, Hon Afriyie Ankrah bewailed that the meagre wages of the footballers plying their trade in Ghana is the main reason for the player exodus.

Unfortunately more great talents are not well developed before they move out for the big money.

“When they begin to develop because they are not well paid, with the slightest opportunity they get they leave. If you hear the amount some are paid as salaries, it is very sad.

So if anything comes forward from Thailand, Bangladesh or any other, once is dollars and they can get something to feed themselves and their families they will leave” He said.
