Assin South: Goat thieves clash with police, exchange gunshots, 1 dead

A team of armed police clashed with armed thieves after storming townships of Assin South on a tip-off of goat stealers in the wee hours of Thursday 23rd September 2021.

Kessben FM’s reporter in Assin South district, Ambruce, reporting on the incident confirmed one of the armed robbers died while exchanging gunshots with the police.

The police apparently had a tip-off that a group of young men had stormed some townships in Assin South stealing virtually every goat they see around with a Toyota Highlander vehicle.

Ambruce speaking with Ali Baba Dankambari on Kessben 92.9, Kessben 93.3 FM’s Breaking News noted that the armed men stormed not only a township but about three townships with their two vehicles, a Toyota Highlander and a Toyota corolla.

“They came with two vehicles, a Toyota Highlander and a Toyota corolla moving around the townships and stealing every goat they see around.”

”They packed about 14 goats in the Toyota Highlander and put the rest of the goats in the small car. The police had a tip-off about what had been happening so they quickly set up a barrier on the main road and when the thieves got there, it resulted in the clash.”

”The thieves opened fire, and the police retaliated. They exchanged gunshots. One of the thieves who was driving the Toyota Corrolla got shot and he eventually died. Another thief was also nabbed by the police while the rest run away”

After interrogating the one who was arrested it has emerged that he’s not a stranger but a popular figure who is quite known in the Assin South district.
