Ghana is not a Banana republic- Hassan Ayariga takes on NIA and Bank of Ghana over lawless Ghana card directive
The founder of All Peoples Party (APC), Dr. Hassan Ayariga says he’s ready to take the Bank of Ghana and the National Identification Authority to court over what he describes as lawlessness in their directive to only allow the Ghana card for banking transactions from July 2022.
The founder of APC speaking in an interview with Kwasi Ntiamoah on Kessben FM/TV noted that the directive to only use the Ghana card for Banking transactions can only be implemented when it is backed by law which it isn’t.
He said that there are many forms of identity that can be used for banking transactions therefore must not be limited to only the Ghana card.
Dr. Ayariga indicated that the authorities might have been carried therefore will write to remind them of what the laws say and if they do not pay heed he will have no other choice to sue them for taking such unlawful action.
According to him the Bank of Ghana or the National Identification Authority does not have the power to insist on only a Ghana card for a Banking Transaction.
