Mancini hit by players fury

ROBERTO MANCINI and his Manchester City players held an emergency inquest into their Champions League disaster yesterday.
The Italian was furious at the way his team flopped in the 3-1 defeat to Ajax in Amsterdam on Wednesday and told them so in a no-holds-barred meeting.
But he could now face a backlash with several players unhappy at getting blamed when they felt the manager’s tactics were at fault.
Mancini’s relationship with some of his squad is strained yet while City are winning it does not cause too many problems.
But tensions ran high during the get-together at Carrington as they tried to find out what went so badly wrong against the Dutch champions.
City are bottom of Group D with just one point from three games — and facing the prospect of going out at the group stage for the second year running.
A team meeting was always on the cards with midfielder Gareth Barry revealing on Wednesday night that Mancini had not said much in the aftermath of their defeat.
He said then: “The manager is disappointed like the players are, but we will speak about things on Thursday.
“Not much was said at the end. If we have let the fans down in any way, we are sorry.”
