John Mensah supports my Black Stars captaincy – Asamoah Gyan

Former Black Stars captain, John Mensah, has given his support to the decision making striker Asamoah Gyan the permanent captain of the senior national soccer team.
In a statement sent to the Ghana FA to accept the captaincy, Gyan in a statement said, aside John Mensah, all the senior players in the team have also given their consent to the decision.
“John Mensah and all the senior players in the team have supported the decision to make me the permanent captain and they all know I will be counting on them. I am grateful to all of them,” the Al Ain striker said October 24, 2012.
The striker promised to enhance the unity in the Black Stars and saying “we pledge once more to march into the future of Ghana football with the united purpose of bringing laurels to our country.”
Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah on Monday October 22, 2012 named Gyan as the permanent captain of the Black Stars.
He also announced that defender John Mensah has been “elevated to the General Captain of the Black Stars.”
