“I want to play for Ghana” – CK Akonnor’s son chooses Ghana over Germany

Charles-Jesaja Herrmann, the son of Charles Akonnor, has said that he would like to play for Ghana despite having represented Germany at several young levels.

Herrmann is a German native who is presently on loan at Kortrijk from his parent club Wolfsburg.

In 2015, the striker signed with Wolfsburg through his father’s former agent.

Despite not visiting Ghana in over a decade, Herrmann stated in an exclusive interview with omasports that he had ties to the country.

“To tell you the truth, I feel honored [by Ghanaians] because I am attached to them.” Despite the fact that I haven’t been there in 11 years, I still feel a strong attachment to them. Hearing that others are talking about me makes me proud. As a result, it’s a pleasant sensation.

“Twi was a part of my childhood. My mum taught me the Twi language. I’m not very good at it. People understand me when I speak, but not in the African way. However, I am conversant in Twi. It’s fine.”

“I consume a lot of Ghanaian cuisine. Rice and stew are my favorite meals.  Jollof Rice. Ghanaian jollof is the best. hysterically laughs I also eat a lot of Ghanaian soup and waakye,” the 21-year-old continued.

Herrmann was a member of Germany’s U15, U16, U17, U18, and U19 teams from 2015 to 2019. If called up, he is willing to play for the Black Stars.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that I’d like to represent Ghana. I’ll go straight to the point. I’ll go straight to them when they call. Despite the fact that I was born and raised in Germany, I am a black man. I’m from Ghana, so I still have a Ghanaian heart. I’m just attached, despite the fact that I haven’t been there in a long time. But if they call me, I’ll go straight because I want to make the people in the country proud.

“I know quite a few Ghanaian footballers.” I keep track of them. The Ayew brothers, Sulley Muntari . At 2006, I watched them all compete in the World Cup. Asamoah Gyan ,  Michael Essien. Most Ghanaians desire to play for Chelsea because of Essien. They’re legendary. And, of course, my father. Tony Yeboah, Abedi Pele,” he added.

Herrmann wants to participate in the World Cup, but first he needs to restore his confidence in front of goal.

“To be honest, I want to accomplish a lot of fantastic things.” I’m aware that getting to where I want to go will not be simple. But for now, I’m just trying to gain some playing time so I can start scoring. So I’m hoping to attend the World Cup the following year.”

Right now, it’s on my mind. I want to start playing and score goals so that I can feel more confident on the field. So, when the call comes, I hope to be able to assist my fatherland.”

Herrmann will appear in three Jupiter Pro League games for Kortrijk next season.
